To Messeurs Hall and Sellers. Gentlemen, The following
little bagatelle was written during a recess in the
country, in the spring of the year 1766. If you have
nothing more suitable to the season, (as the phrase is), you
will perhaps slip it into a corner of your paper, in honor
of the charming month, which it is the subject.
Song.
I.
The blushing of May, fair vernal Queen,
With flora in her train,
Comes smiling o'er the dasied green,
And points the purple plain.
